Learngears meet with Benesse from Japan

Benesse Educational Technology

Today we had a wonderful chance to meet and greet with Benesse’s representatives from Japan. Benesse is one of the biggest education company in Japan and they were invited by our government representatives, the Institution for the Promotion of Science and Technology. Benesse developed total solutions for kids ranging from kindergartens to high-schools and their main objectives today was to introduce themselves and look for the way to expand their business in Thailand. Their presentations were very impressive and full of interesting products. What we liked most was “The Miracle Shot”, microscopic compact cameras designed for primary school children and the other one is “Kid’s microscope” – watch it yourself in the video.

Web lessons may become integral part of education

Khan Academy presents examples of math (top) and science concepts online at www.khanacademy.org. Founder Salman Khan, a former math geek and hedge fund analyst, got started making 10-minute videos to help his relatives with math homework.

Web lessons @ Khan Academy

Julie Rasicot published a very interesting article at TheBulletin, showing us that web lessons will become integral part of education. Salman Khan, founder of www.khanacademy.org, shared us about his insight in this article as well.

Salman Khan @ TED Talks

Here’s how Salman Khan thinks schools should work: Students should learn lessons online and do homework and projects in class.

This “flipping” of the traditional classroom is the operating system espoused by Khan and his Khan Academy, a website whose popularity is exploding as millions tune into its free videos, practice exercises and assessment tools.

Khan’s videos provide basic tutorials, mostly in math and science, that students can watch repeatedly in class or at home and pause if they need to — something that can’t happen with a classroom lecture. Teachers are then free to work individually with students and be more creative.

And that, Khan says, enables class time to be “an optimal experience for students and teachers.”

Science.I.Like.Booth Augmented Reality Photo Booth

NSTDA’s Augmented Reality Photo Booth massively success on the first day drawing over 200 pictures to NSTDA’s Facebook page “Science.I.Like”.

Learngears’ Augmented Reality Photo Booth grabbed attention from thousands of kids, only in the first day. Teachers astonishingly took their kids’ pictures in this wonderful trip to Thailand’s National Science Week 2011.

The event is arguably the biggest Science & Educational Technology event in Thailand. A lot of schools sent their teachers and students across the country just for this special event.

National Science Week 2011 will last until 20 August. The augmented reality photo booth will be there everyday, come and dance with Einstein!
